Why Detoxing is Crucial for Good Health

April 15, 2017

Every day, our bodies are fighting an invisible battle against harmful toxins that consume our planet. Over time, the synthetic chemicals in our personal care products, contaminants in our water, artificial additives in the foods we eat, and air pollutants we inhale are building up inside of us, silently wreaking havoc on our bodies. Ideally, the liver would process and excrete these toxins, but the reality is that many of us suffer from congested lymphatic systems and unhealthy digestive systems, causing the liver to perform at a sluggish pace. Traditional Chinese Medicine refers to this an ailing liver, often caused by the over consumption of refined sugars and carbohydrates, alcohol, caffeine, and drugs.

When the liver cannot do its job, the body protects itself by storing toxins inside of fat.  These toxins remain in the body for years at a time, leading to some of society’s most common disorders and diseases including, but certainly not limited to, chronic fatigue, depression, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, acne, dermatitis, menstrual irregularities, headaches, thyroid disorders, hair loss, and memory loss.

So, how do we get rid of the toxins?

The answer is detox! Periodically detoxifying your liver will keep it functioning properly by eliminating damaging toxins. There are many safe and effective ways to do this. While each detoxification program varies based on the foods and length of the program, I  have found through years of research and experimentation that soup cleansing, or “souping” is the most effective method. My favorite recipe is what I call, the Three Day Goddess Cleanse. The anti-inflammatory, nutrient-rich ingredients include:

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 5 garlic gloves, minced

  • 3 whole lemons, chopped including pulp

  • 3 bunches of kale, chopped

  • 4 broccoli heads, chopped

  • 3 leeks, white part only, chopped

  • 5 celery stalks, chopped

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 tins coconut milk

  • 4 cups bone broth

In a saucepan, heat the oil on medium to high heat. Add ingredients and stir frequently for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until ingredients appear soft. Add coconut milk and bone broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and let cool for 10 minutes before transferring ingredients into a blender or food processor. Blend until you have reached a desired consistency. Serve hot with black pepper.

True to its name, this detox increases energy, brightens eyes, reduces eczema symptoms and skin blemishes, relieves bloat, and enhances facial glow, revealing your inner Goddess/God. Most importantly, the detox aids in releasing toxins from fat storage into the bloodstream where they are then transformed and excreted by the liver.

To achieve maximum results, you should consider incorporating a natural colon cleanser into your detox. Unlike harsh over-the-counter laxatives that often induce negative side effects from severe dehydration to kidney damage, natural cleansers such as Belly Fat Flush, provides the body with essential herbs and vitamins needed to liberate stubborn toxins from fat storage, safely. This unique combination of quality ingredients was carefully created by Nelcia Salmon, founder of Weight & Wellness Natural Herbs & Alternative Medicines, located in Sunrise, Florida.

The golden flax seed base serves the important role of trapping old, impacted fecal matter and toxins directly from the intestine walls and aids in eliminating it from the body. This is contrary to laxatives that often only excrete water weight, which contains little to no fat. Beyond promoting weight loss and acting as a potent appetite suppressant, Belly Fat Flush may also aid in maintaining healthy blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels, thanks to ingredients such as moringaoleifera. Additional ingredients include wheat bran, oat bran, psyllium, gurarana, noni, senna, apple fiber, pineapple, bromelain, whole brown flax seeds, garcinia 60%, moringa, raspberry ketone powder, kelp powder, chia seed, cinnamon powder, and green tea.

Remaining consistent with detoxification programs is key in order to maintain good health, promote proper liver function, prevent disease and allow your body to perform to its fullest potential!
